Bad news sells. Apparently, this is a truism as far as media is concerned. People are just interested in bad news and controversies or, at the very least, the unusual. Thus this is what media give the public.

It's irrational to sendi bribers to jail & leave bribees free. The good news is that one-time GOP Culture of Corruption kingpin Jack Abramoff has been sentenced to another 48 months in jail. The bad news-- apart from it not being 48 years & Bush's ability to pardon him in less than 4 months-- is that over 40 Republican congressmen are still free.

After I covered all of my shorts today I was convinced that I should take tomorrow off and not press my luck. That’s because so many stocks seem oversold after all this week’s selling. I was also seeing things like the QQQQ breaking its July low, the SOX breaking to a new 5+ year low and the indices and many stocks closing under their lower Bollinger Bands. “Surely the market’s due for a bounce here”, I was thinking.
